SEMESTER 2 2021

Welcome to 3/4J’s webpage for Semester 2 2021!

It’s been an incredible 2021 in so many ways …we started the year doing so many things together at school, and now we are finishing the year as tech-savvy students who count Google Classroom and Zoom as simple tools for learning everything about the world around us!!

During remote learning we have used our home base to great advantage, finding fantastic physical examples for maths work in space, measurement, and number. Photos have been uploaded to Ms Jackson on a regular basis, and everybody has used these opportunities to shine in front of the camera! Reading work has focused on our novel study of “Nim’s Island”, and all of us have been having the best time as we have “gone troppo” for our costume activity and mocktails.

In geography, we are learning about the Earth’s environment, and we are focusing on different places in the world, including Madagascar and mainland Africa. Every time we view a video, it transports us to that special place and allows us to reflect on both its beauty and the impact that humans have had on its environment over time. Science topics have also focused on the environment, as both “A Material World” and “Space Invaders” gave us the opportunity to experiment with different materials, their uses, their capacity to biodegrade and how living things cope with a changing landscape. SOLE groups (see photo) have researched different topics of choice, using each other’s knowledge to ensure success for everyone.

It certainly has been a different kind of learning experience this semester, and zoom has allowed us to see each other every day, but we can’t wait to get back together and play and laugh constantly (like in our foster buddy photo)…. and no Ms Jackson isn’t allowed to use her headphones for peace and quiet!

See you all soon!
