Co-curricular activities

Drama Group meets each Monday lunch time in the hall at 1:00pm. Depending on numbers Kindergarten and Stage One students work together playing drama games and learning to perform.

We all acknowledge that before we learn to read we need to learn the ABC, similarly experiencing the grounded basics is essential for a drama student. Thus we teach a variety of drama games to develop the skills that the students will need to confidently perform.

This year students are performing a movement song using ribbons and body percussion.

Students benefit from their involvement in K-2 Drama group by establishing new relationships, increasing self-confidence, gently breaking down inhibitions, encouraging concentration and logical thinking and building group dynamics.

K-2 Drama Group promotes imaginative responses whilst having fun! 

Chess club

Chess Club at Abbotsford Public School is open to all students in years 1-6. During Chess Club students learn the skills of the game from professional chess tutors and play social and competitive games against each other. There are also opportunities for students to participate in formal competitions against other schools throughout the year.

Abbotsford Chess Club has three classes catering to students of all ability levels. The beginners class is aimed at new and less experienced players. The intermediate class is for players who have grasped the basic rules and principles of chess. The advanced class is for students who have demonstrated a sound understanding of chess strategy.

Chess club meets on Wednesday afternoon during the school term.
