Abbotsford Public School, located on a peninsula on the Parramatta River, is situated in spacious grassy grounds with extensive tree cover. A strong sense of community arises from there being many parents and grandparents who also attended the school.
Families are drawn from a diverse community with an increasing cultural mix. A council operated long day care centre and parent-operated before and after school care are available on site.
Music and technology programs feature prominently. Training and performing bands, senior rock band, choirs, recorder and violin groups, and a K-6 music program, are core components. Quality technology programs are embedded within the NSW syllabus, with each class implementing as the teacher requires. Students have access to technology, including desktops, laptops, and iPads, which are all used at various times each week, by each class.
An Italian language program operates K-6. A variety of programs operate annually including peer support, foster buddies, interschool sport (PSSA) and the Iron Cove Performing Arts Festival.
Debating, chess, dance, writing, running and art clubs provide engaging co-curricular activities.
The Henry Lawson Community Hall allows for the effective use of the space as a large learning environment for students and provides the community with a space for outside providers.
Abbotsford Public School provides a rich learning environment for all students to develop as lifelong learners in a climate where students are safe, happy, and successful.
